2021 China June 18 6.18 E-Commerce Shopping Festival on Alibaba TMall, Tmall Global, JingDong JD and JD Worldwide
Another June 18th China E-Commerce shopping festival comes to a close: Vendors for Alibaba Tmall’s 6.18 campaign have more than doubled: 250.000 new brands opted in for the mid-year sales festival traditionally marking the second biggest sales peak of the year after November 11th Singles Day. The festival, which started its presales period on May 24th came to a close tonight on June 20, and brought customers nearly four weeks of exciting deals and products. The company has yet to report final GMV figures compared to the 698.2 billion yuan (108 bil USD), generated in 2020 from June 1st to June 18th.
JD.com invited more than 300 celebrities, and executives from nearly 600 brand partners to participate in various promotions through live streaming during the promotion. The marketplace also held two galas through live streaming inviting celebrities to bring consumers the festive atmosphere of 618 and leveraging JD and WeChat’s combined strength. The company reported total transaction volume of over RMB 343.8 billion yuan (53bil USD) during the 18-day (Jun. 1-18) sale – 22% growth yoy compared to 2020.
